most successful Olympic women's skier of all times
February 19. 2006 - At 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino, Italy,
Croatian ski champion Janica Kostelic has added another 2 medals to her personal medals tally. In Salt Lake City,
in 2002 Winter Olympics, Janica won 3 golds and 1 silver medal. With this year's addition of another Olympic gold
and silver, Janica has become the most successful Olympic women's alpine skier of all times. - read full story

Champion
February 2006 - Croatia's most successful sports woman is the
skiing champion Janica Kostelic. She's currently leading the Overall Women's Ski World Cup standing. Her (and her
brother Ivica's moderate) success is even more remarkable, considering that Croatia has no alpine sports tradition.

Tennis
Croatia national tennis team
wins Davis Cup
December 2005 - After defeating Slovakia in the team finals,
Croatian team has won its first ever Davis Cup by BNP Paribas title. This puts Croatia as the No. 1 nation on the
ITF (International Tennis Federation) Davis Cup Nations Ranking, dislodging 2004 Champion Nation Spain from the top
spot. It's a large jump and the first time that Croatia has risen to the top of the ranking, after finising at No.

July 2001 - Croatia's Goran Ivanisevic wins Wimbledon, after
beating Australia's Pat Rafter in the finals match, on the 9. July 2001.
Handball
Croatia wins World Handball
Championship
February 2003 - After beating Germany in finals 34:31, Croatia
has become the World Handball champion in the men's category. The handball world championship competition was held
